About the Role
As a Junior Researcher in System Modeling, you will support the development and use of executable system-level models and virtual prototypes using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape or SystemC/TLM. The role focuses on PPA analysis, architecture exploration, hardware-software co-simulation, and system validation while working closely with researchers, architects, firmware, and verification teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and extending system-level models using MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, Stateflow, or SystemC/TLM-2.0.
- Set up and execute experiments to measure latency, throughput, utilization, energy, power, memory footprint, and area-related KPIs.
- Implement and calibrate basic power models using specifications, RTL activity, or measured data.
- Contribute device, IP, bus, interconnect, and software workload models within virtual platform environments.
- Build or integrate plant and physical models such as power stages, sensors, and actuators.
- Automate simulations, parameter sweeps, regressions, and generate reports and dashboards using MATLAB or Python.
- Perform sensitivity analysis and design-space exploration.
- Support correlation of model results with RTL simulation, emulation, or silicon measurements.
- Maintain documentation, coding standards, reviews, and version control practices.
- Participate in literature reviews, seminars, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Collaborate with system architects, firmware teams, verification teams, and researchers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong fundamentals in digital logic, computer architecture, and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink or SystemC/TLM modeling environments.
- Understanding of performance, power, area, and thermal concepts.
- Programming experience with MATLAB, C++, and/or Python.
- Basic familiarity with Verilog, VHDL, and co-simulation concepts.
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Simscape, Stateflow, Embedded Coder, Simulink Test, or Simulink Requirements.
- Knowledge of SystemC/TLM payload extensions, timing annotation, and virtual platform integration.
